Review by hotel critic
During our recent stay at Mikon, I felt compelled to share my culinary experience given our family's fondness for good food. Nestled in a Berlin building that may not scream 'luxurious retreat,' crawling up to the 5th floor reveals a cozy atmosphere that tells a different story. We were greeted by friendly staff and enjoyed a spacious, clean room. The mornings brought a culinary highlight with their traditional German buffet. My expectation for hearty breakfasts didn't quite align with the reality-while I appreciate vegetarian options, they leaned heavily on cheese and minimal fresh produce. As a fan of vibrant breakfasts, I found it a bit lacking. Dining ambiance was simple yet welcoming, making it a pleasant spot to start your day, though I would have loved a bit more variety to truly showcase local cuisine. Nearby, we spotted places like Mangiarbene di Giancarlo and Berlin Espresso House for alternative meals that looked promising. Although the hotel may not be everyone's ideal getaway and the entry can be off-putting, for those who value location and cleanliness over frills, Mikon's comfortable and straightforward approach may just satisfy. Would I return? Yes, but with higher expectations for breakfast.
